The Gala Crystal Room

The first floor of the Château used to be composed of the main rooms, with the servants sleeping on the floor above. Only two beautiful (but sadly severely damaged)  bedrooms existed, at the ends of the floor, reserved for the Lainé-de Soleirol family. The other bedrooms, although small, had nevertheless a fireplace and a service hoist each.

In 2003, the rooms, severely damaged by the transformation into a college and dormitories and by water, were combined to make a gala room of 200m², with appropriate sanitary facilities and a service area. The demolition of the four interior load-bearing walls is worthy of note!  The original ceilings remain above the current fire proof transformations.

The crystal chandeliers were especially made in Murano (Italy), as well as all of the mouldings, corbels and rosettes, similar to the original ones.

15,000 hours of work, 200m² of French oak parquet flooring (including part of the old parquet floor in the centre and on the right) and 27 tons of reinforced concrete were required for the creation of this room.
